Welcome to my world, my name is SteveBeauchamp.
I began in Graphic Arts and Illustration. Before I finished college, I realized it was not a career field that I believed would be fulfilling enough. I proceeded to spend the next 8 years in the Navy, developing an application for my art skills. Woodcarving with a pocketknife became a very portable way to express myself with a minimum of tools. This became very useful in the "hurry up and wait" chaos of the Vietnam War.
In 1980 an existing woodworking business became available and I jumped in with both feet.
I developed quite a following in furniture repair, teaching myself as I went. In a natural evolution of that chosen path, I began to build furniture. Wood carving normally needs to go on something else.
Beyond those humble beginnings, I believe that I am one of a growing number of craftsman who is enjoying renaissance in the demand for period furniture and "Old World Craftsmanship."
I love what I do and because of that, I do a lot of challenging work - not because I know how, but because I don't know I can't.
My life partner (my wife, Terry) is very supportive and my unbiased quality control.
I believe in putting "Life in my work, not work in my life."
It has been a journey of over 27 years of perfecting my skills.
